Get busy living, or get busy dying... (Stephen King) Equipment required for the Roy Dye Walk America Expedition is quite different from that of a regular walker, biker or hiker. Hanger Prosthetics of Memphis, Tennessee helped fabricate a shoulder harness that allows the home-fabricated cart to be pushed or pulled for hauling all the necessary gear and camping equipment, and was used successfully for four years of training and testing. Maximum weight towing - 150 pounds. Normal weight pushing or towing is 60 to 80 pounds. New cart design by Berg pictured below, custom built for the Roy Dye Walk America Expedition exceeds all expectations. The cart is excellent for the walking, pushing, and towing legs of the journey. The hiking legs (cart-less) are supported by Coleman. They have furnished ultra lightweight equipment, including Inyo tent, eXponent backpack, sleeping bag suitable for current weather conditions, and trekking poles. The biking legs of the journey are supported using Schwinn equipment. A crossbreed (hybrid) road/mountain bike with 26" tires running green slime tubes. So many folks have asked about the bike and how it's set up, I included pictures below. Drinkables supplied vital body nutrients and of course, Hanger Prosthetics provided prosthetics as needed.
